Take on the struggle for statehood

The subject has been on the forefront of the happenings constantly for most of the recent past. Since the Telangana state is declared, there are few view points which can be put around the same. These should in any way neither dampen the spirit nor aimed against the struggle of the vast majority but only to be considered as a form of expression.                                    There has been support from most of the people of the state for and against the formation of a new state. While there is an intense agitation, being almost regular, in the demand for a separate state since few years; there are more in number who opposed without a voice, expressing  their dissent at these demands. The new state of 9 districts if carved out will carry present capital Hyderabad along with few issues at which the the remaining 13 districts h...

Pastime Musings - 2

Image
If everything pans out as scheduled, this would be my last week in this campus. It also marks the end of metamorphosis from student to worker. I had been a student for the last 19 years in a kind of educational framework which pressed hard the seekers of it for marks, marks and marks. Success stories were weaved around these numbers and egos, envies were generated by these marks. These marks hugged the student who read, retain and reproduce well (barring the entrance tests when the questions were twisted). Though there is no alternative for this indicator to differentiate, does it mould the learners the way they had to learn? Can the winners of this type of learning be called as those fully stuffed with 'meaningful' education? If not all, are the toppers at least contributing to the progress of arts or science they learned from these temples of e...

Pastime Musings

After the initial hiccups, the sailing in the training became relatively smooth and may it stay as such till the end. Thanks to the strong dollar, the computing industry has generated lot of wealth and employment. This has ushered in a certain degree of financial independence – which was hitherto enjoyed by a elite few – to those with second tier of brains.         My complains of the peripheral hardships here would have been unmatched with the real struggles had I graduated a decade or two earlier. There is a lyric of a Telugu song sapatu etu ledu ..(which translates to ‘we have no work, atleast sing a song brother’) from movie Aakali Rajyam (translates to Hunger Kingdom) of that period which captures the turmoil and disgust, the previous generation has gone through after passing out of student life. Considering the previous state of affairs and with an income which is a high multiple of percapita in...

Few Thoughts

My training at Infosys,Mysore started two and half months back. It has been a period of emotions running high. There is a lot of difference between a child's imagnation and practicality - be it about the world around us or our own selves. The gap narrows between the two, probably when we grow up and get hands-on with the real life. Those who have murked in the dirty waters or have a shaky base may not stand still at this stage. The fighters among those would mould themselves, the 'backers' ,knowing their limitations, would back themselves and others build buildings for a collapse.                      Everything about the place is picturesque and opulent. All of us over here should have been very fortunate for utilising facilities of this kind so early ...

Learn Me : Sanskrit

Kingdom of languages,                                                                16-9-2009. To Whomsoever concerned, Dear infants,                                          I, Sanskrit was the oldest living language in the world. Its out of self-pity born out of my status quo in this country that I have resolved to venture before you in this form. You are all well aware of my glorious past. But of late, I was the medium of communication for not more than a few thousand.       ...

Homage To Y.S.R

It doesn't matter how well a man lived for his entire life but the ultimate result confers upon him who has lofty ideals and lived by them through thick and thin. And Y.S.R's ideals are solving the problems of the people and uplifting the weaker sections of the society, for anything less he would not have achieved half of his success. He would not have even drawn the kind of farewell and the wide acclaim had he been involved in any of the many charges levied against him. Beyond any doubt, he single handedly revived the fortunes of Congress in the state. His case would be best dealt if a pragmatic view is considered. True, he hailed from a faction back ground, used politician's mudslinging to denounce his opponents in the meanest of ways, severely alleged upon for misusing power, but his unique ability to feel the common man's pulse had lifted him to a position of comfort which he would have enjoyed far into the future. His mammoth pl...
