Learn Me : Sanskrit

                                                               Kingdom of languages,
                                                               16-9-2009.
To
Whomsoever concerned,
Dear infants,

I, Sanskrit was the oldest living language in the world. Its out of self-pity born out of my status quo in this country that I have resolved to venture before you in this form. You are all well aware of my glorious past. But of late, I was the medium of communication for not more than a few thousand.

The ancestors of this land had composed literature rich in ethical, philosophical, mythological and intellectual values whose volume and authority can never be surpassed by texts in any other language. By discarding me, you have thrown away the key to access a vast pool of knowledge to purify your souls in this corrupt-ridden environment. All the divinity showers upon you if you are associated with the 'Language of Gods'. In this context, to paraphrase what Swami Vivekananda said of me "..to bring out the gems of spirituality and knowledge that are stored up in our books, the great difficulty in the way is the Sanskrit language, and this difficulty cannot be removed until the whole of our nation are good Sanskrit scholars. The very sound of Sanskrit gives a prestige and a power and a strength to the race".

If at all you could absorb and use a language entered two and a half centuries ago, which is a blend of most of the rest, how could you neglect the parent of all the regional dialects in the country. All those who are willing to continue the culture of this country, I am the means to attain your end. In this light, I must be stationed as a mandatory language to learn by all school children. Let all other factors against this step go to hell. You, descendants of my creators, yelling those English words look seriously out of place to me - like a dog roaring or a lion barking. In the earnest, I request you all headed by that Prime Minister from Oxford to take your time out of those Oxford dictionaries and learn the language of your ancestors. May your souls reverberate with joy in this pursuit and may the readers of this letter nod in favour and post a comment.

                                                                       Yours Sincerely,
                                                                        King of languages.
P.S - Draft framed with assistance from secretary - English.
