Corona Virus Part 5, Increased Work Load, Aspiration Fulfilled And Heavenly Departures
My work continues relentlessly over the
past weeks in the mid of the lockdown, playing my part to negate the
ill-effects of lockdown. Among those who are very active during these times are
health care workers, police personnel and those who are working from home. I am
working on the ground during the first half of the day and from afternoon to mid-night,
working remotely from home to attend my professional job. While many play the
role of frontline workers or remote workers or don’t work at all, I am playing
the multiple roles of frontline worker as well as remote worker as well as mid-night
blogger. This simply means that playing these multiple roles has increased my workload
during these lock down times. This is not under my control but simply happening
as such. I hope my increased workload provides comfort to many during these
tough times. I am working as a frontline worker laying myself prone to the
virus, to ease the suffering of others and doing remote work to earn my
livelihood. People generally do either of these but not both simultaneously.
By
donning these many roles, I am already doing commendable work and becoming a
great soul camouflaged as ordinary person. People cannot appreciate me enough
for what I am doing and they are at a loss of superlatives to correctly equate
me with. Adding to my real roles which are aplenty, there are many imaginary
roles as well where my work has an outcome. On the whole, I am becoming a superhuman
with many roles during these lock down days. I don’t know if it will continue
in the coming days or I will get some respite but till date this is my situation.
The joy of being in home-quarantine evaporated soon after I was stuck in this
quagmire and these supposed-to-be quarantine days have become much more
tougher. While many of my peers are not even changing from their night clothes
since a month, here I am toiling like a machine. I did not get into the groove
just like that but created work and opportunities to pitch in. This creativity
is a daily routine for me to run the machinery and set the ball rolling. I wish
with all our collective efforts from persons like me, we will nullify the worst
effects of lockdown days and everything turns to normal soon.
Among
the ways I am helping the affected people is by distributing food and essential
raw materials. Another way through which I am contributing is by engaging with
the poor labourers and trying to find out their present circumstances in the days
of no wages. A set of questionnaire is posed to every person which gave me a
chance to come in contact with the below poverty line persons of the country.
Most of them conveyed that they went out of job post lockdown and finding it
difficult as the days goes by. The data will be checked by concerned
authorities and necessities are being given out to them. This kind of interaction
would have never materialized in normal days but covid19 presented an opportunity
to come closer to lesser privileged persons. It is also an opportunity to bring
them closer to the rest of the people in terms of their economic status. I am limited
in my capabilities but always had a desire to interact with common man of the
country. The activities like these by persons like me will protect their
interests and enable financial inclusion. The time is right to improve the
conditions of these people and pull them out of the poverty. I always work for
such causes to bridge the gap between rich and poor and make them financially,
socially and physically healthy. Their all-round development and financial
inclusion and well-being is of utmost importance and everything else comes
next. They are the living gods and we should worship them and be in service to
them.
Leave
everything else, just by checking on them during these difficult times and
providing relief will give motivation to rise above their circumstances and
think positively about the society and contribute to it. Efforts from people
like me have created mobility and thousands of labourers across the country are
given essential item kits and money by different government and police
departments. I was able to satisfy my inner wish and the labourers needs with
this great social activity by virtue of the opportunity in these lockdown times.
At times of crisis and pandemics, few of the people who are service oriented
will find their calling. I found my calling during this covid19 pandemic and
wish to be of service to more and more people. It is always difficult to help
than to receive help. To help someone requires a lot of effort and through my
regular activity coming into the pandemic, I am in that state - to render help.
Moving on to the people affected
by the virus pandemic, there are a total 33.04 lakh people infected and 2.34
lakh deceased worldwide. In the past week itself, 6.4 lakh new people are
infected and 50 thousand passed away. The weekly rate of growth of infected
people and deceased people are highest this past week. It might take some time
before this curve reaches the peak, begins downward slope and finally reaches
zero. Few months have already passed, and it might take one more month of
lockdown before the number of cases see a drop. What is alarming is the continuous
rise in the number of cases even with world coming to a standstill. The scenario
will further deteriorate if the restrictions are loosened and nations decided
to open. Hence, it is highly recommended by experts to remain as it is and contain
the spread by restricting to homes, practice social distancing norms and take
all precautions. The countries can remove the restrictions if the number of
cases is decreasing but in the world of ever-increasing count, they cannot
afford to risk people’s lives. While it is very important to look at the
economy and resurrect the livelihood of millions, it is much more important to
break the chain of spread and limit the interactions an infected person can
make. China, which is reporting near zero infections since the past one month
or more has been under lockdown for 2 months before containing the virus. All
the nations must follow this two month lock down mandatorily and see that there
are no new cases for a period of time before deciding to easing the
restrictions. In case of our nation, it should be till at least May 25th
before we can think otherwise and remove restrictions.
The past two days are extremely tough in
the country with two of the finest persons in films departing to heavens. It is
disheartening that both passed away on consecutive days and died of cancer, leaving
the nation in shock. Not that there are similarities, not that it is purely
co-incidental, not that they are battling diseases from few years, not that
they are most likeable but the fact that two of the finest humans who come
across have left to heavenly adobe, leaves a huge void in the film fraternity
and the nation in general. Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor are certainly well past
their prime, but it is still premature and death comes to good humans in the
most heartbreaking ways and these are moments such as those. Hope the bereaved
family and their extended family find strength in these trying times.
