Need for the Attitude of a Raging Bull
Let us ascertain what has been going around for some time. For the sake of illustration, let us make 4 categories. 1. If you try to work for 5 days and take a two day off, you can be called just another person living a normal life with good work-life balance. 2. If you try to work 6 days a week and take a day off, you can be called a good worker with decent work ethic. 3. If you standardized working 7 days a week without any significant break, you can be called an excellent worker portraying high standards. 4. If you work seven days a week, in two shifts; morning, evening or any two shifts in a day, you can be called a worker in two jobs and going through the rigorous routines every day, trying to become a super-worker with terrific work-ethic living high above the normal plane. It has been like that since the past few years. While the first category can be called a mellowed down, muted or soft approach, the degree increases gradually before reaching the final category where it takes the form of bullish, bulldozing or bludgeoning approach towards our life and work. The population elsewhere can fall in first two categories but we Indians need to come in the last two categories. In short, there is a bullish wave all around and Indians need to adopt a bulldozing approach to claim new heights and reclaim the lost glory.
I had been riding atop this bullish wave involuntarily for quite some time and can tell you it can be a way to make things happen. In fact, it can be the only way to force and exert our way through. If the nation needs to be redeemed and recognized as a force to reckon with, then we need to enforce the future by forcing our way through. I have emanated from the bedrock of Indian culture and became an example of this style of living. There is a definite advantage and great merit in being bullish than not. It will save us, our nation and its position of eminence among a host other nations. Rather than being just another person or another state, we would like to be recognized for the output through the newfound standards. We need to think about why there is a huge necessity for Indians to be bullish about India and why Indians themselves need to be bullish by falling in the last category. If the nation needs to achieve the high growth rate, if it needs to catch up with rest of developed world, if it needs to satisfy its billion plus population, if it want to erase the bad tags and contribute positively to the world, if it want to stand as a motivation and inspiration to rest of world, then the populace need to fall in either of the last two categories and emerge bullish. You can do great service to the nation and help its cause by adopting a strong, defiant and aggressive approach instead of just serving the individual cause.
Let us look at two case studies and understand how this aggressive approach helped achieve great things. The first is the success of the NBA team – Chicago Bulls. I resonated with the name of the team and went to watch one of the match. As anticipated, it is a terrific spectacle and good to watch. When two bulls lock horn, it will be a good fight. More than a spectacle, what the bulls team achieved in 90’s with their aggressive play throws light on the fact that they brought the intensity of a raging bull to the play. True to the name, they played like one which championed their cause and put the individual among greatest to grace the game.
To go into details, during the 1990s, the Chicago Bulls, led by Michael Jordan, were known for their aggressive and dominant style of play. They were a highly competitive team that played with intensity and passion, and they were able to win six NBA championships during that decade. Jordan, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time, was known for his fierce competitiveness, athleticism, and mental toughness. He would often take control of games and lead his team to victory through his scoring, defense, and leadership. The Bulls were also known for their physicality and toughness on the court, which was partly due to the style of play prevalent in the NBA during that era. The rules were different then, and physical contact was more common and often allowed. This allowed the Bulls to use their physicality and aggressive style of play to their advantage, as they would often overpower and intimidate their opponents, just like the name and symbol of the team. Their legacy has had a lasting impact on the NBA and basketball in general, and they continue to be remembered as one of the greatest teams in the history of the sport. This is all about the first case study and how the raging qualities established one of the greatest eras in sporting history.
For the second case study, let us go back to the home nation and look at the present day happening. The charged-up state of Telangana took up the project to build a grand new government secretariat. It is a significant, prestigious undertaking of the modern day and one to last for many more years. The new Secretariat complex, which houses the important offices of the chief minister, ministers, chief secretary and all other secretaries and heads of departments, is a seven-storey structure with a built-up area of 7 lakh square feet and equipped with all modern facilities. It has been constructed at a cost of nearly Rs 650 crore.
The building, termed as a symbol of the state's progress, boasts off two massive domes. National emblem atop one of the domes has taken the building to its planned height of 278 feet. The sprawling new structure on the banks of Hussian Sagar is not just a seat of power but also a unique architectural attraction. Once this is envisaged, the project worth more than 600 crore rupees is completed in just 26 months in narrow, aggressive timelines. A monument of this magnitude has been completed in just two years by displaying a tough resolve and pervading the scare of the pandemic. This is going to inaugurate today and there can’t be a better development to the state, nation; the progress which has been exemplified by the iconic structure. This is the kind of resolve and attitude with which the people and the nation need to move ahead. The bullishness on display will catapult the state, nation to unimaginable heights in no time. These are just two case studies which display the aggressive attitudes in abundance to achieve great causes. The same resolve I mentioned earlier need to be picked up by the multitudes to dream and achieve impossible.
