Take On My Experience In New Mode
I already mentioned that I am relocated to a new location and setting. I am headed to pursue my masters and follow up with a career in U.S. It would be always fascinating from the eyes of any typical student to study in the best of the places designated for the purpose to be among the best. Though I am a bit apprehensive about exercising this option earlier, there came a situation during my work tenure when I am searching for the alternative options and luckily got through this one. Thus came the shift to the other half of the earth which happened easily through plane . This small write-up is to keep a gauge of the events which unfolded ever since I landed in this big country. I came as a student and my job is to attend a university and listen to classes. All the events are evolved in this pursuit.
While a user like me is yet to come to terms with the aeroplane technology which was used and went unnoticed, I landed in the airport. After arrival I need to confirm regarding a pick-up externally. I am searching for some options and wary of asking for a cell phone. To my surprise, I found my own cell phone connected to the airport public wi-fi. A big welcome and a sigh of relief. All the correspondence happened and I was picked up. I entered the vehicle and just fed the dropping address to the little device mounted on the dashboard for navigation. To complement this address locator, there is no gearing system in the vehicle. Everything is automatic and I wondered what the driver is actually doing. Playing video game in 4D by pressing the accelerator full throttle ? Well, the people casually drives at around 90 miles/hr in the city. I am unaware about the highways. There came a toll point and the vehicle sped past under it. Toll deducted automatically. It is already night and by the time I come to terms with few of the wonders in darkness, I am at the destination. After locating the address, we searched around for food and found an Indian restarant nearby. I slept well during the daytime of the homeland without much lag. The transition happened simply and seamlessly without much fuss.
Before I digested what happened the day before, next day came and the day after. Well, I saw my apartment which is named after an animal. There are a lot of animals in it groomed on par with offsprings. I expected a high rise building which are being constructed religiously elsewhere. All I found are a few big hut-like partitions with a front office and no watchman, gate. Is this the new modern normal. In the days to come, I also found there is no compound wall, entrance gate, watchman to the college either. There seem to be no cases of planned robbery. I recollected stories from my college days in India when few friends were caught jumping from the compound wall to leave the college after skipping few classes. There is no issue of forced restraint over here and one can plan well to attend college for just 2 days and give himself remaining 5 days.
A few days after dropping in the new zone, I visited a medium-sized warehouse office. The place is a large facility and replete with many such offices. I didnot find the setting( a tea stall, few middle men, gaurds etc) over there to suggest it is a place of some importance. All I saw was cars parked outside and fewer men inside which I came to understand is the most common sight. I am told the warehouse is efficient in its operation and only employs 3 people. Even the 3 men are hardly seen like working. I did not had the stomach to get into further details and returned after spending little time.
On one of the following days, I went to the college first time, entered the library and used the computer system for some work without enrolling as a student. There is no vigilance for a case like me and I was never enquired. I remembered the days in my company when I need to place my bag daily in that radioactive detector and go through couple of security checkpoints swiping the card before entering the workplace.
The day when I attended the college as per schedule is the orientation day during which I had to go through a lengthy ritual of rules and procedures. I remembered the official scaring the students of termination for plagiarism. I came to know the values which are of high importance and prioritised. Theft and copy has no place while you can freely have alcohol and smoke. It is also a worthy experience to be among students from different countries though Indians and Chinese-looking came in large numbers. The trait with the Chinese is everyone looks similar from the faces to the names, lightning speed in the incomprehensible native language and can assimilate quickly into the new place. A few of the friends are yet to come to terms with the slang and pronunciation of the cold nation. They are eagerly waiting for the heat of the summer to hear some proper sounds.
These are the incidents of some value which are registered in the cache and being written to the hard disk before deleting them. I will try to retrieve a few more in the next turn.
P.S - Not every thought is devoid of falsity.
