Post Bifurcation and Ahead
After living through the division of the state for the past
few months, here are the further 2 cents on the prevailing situation and that
of the future. Contrary to the anticipation, there is little visible resistance
to the outcome of a dubious decision. Whatever resistance in the
form of waning agitations and resignations, failed to result in anything larger as
people acceded to the forced ruling with pent-up hatred and simmering anger for
those behind the move. Their voice is never taken into account at any stage of
the bifurcation which resulted in the thorough rout of the ruling party in the
recent elections. Significant to observe is the party did not get the support
of the state it created. A referendum held in United Kingdom last month is a
good way of going about in such cases to put the issue to rest. The only
difference being the account of entire state should be considered due to the
location of capital and other attachments. Though hard to get across and reiterated
number of times; the strength, success and soul of a race lies in its unity.
This should unequivocally supersede the solution to any other problem and would
not have given in to a plethora of promises.
Some of the pros are already mentioned in the earlier post but these are the cons which are also coming into light. Among
the main expectations of an arranged division, important is the people on
either side remain on mutually cooperative terms. This is hardly seen in
action. Due to the vicious nature of the language used by politicians, the gap
widened after the formation of new state. The sharing of electricity which
should have maintained status-quo saw the withdrawal from the residual A.P to
meet its own demand round the clock. This attitude aggravated the already deficit
condition to further increase power cuts across the newly formed state.
Agriculture was mostly affected from this harsh step as around 200 farmers committed
suicide from the region in the past four months due to the reasons stemming
from drying of crops. A better stand is expected out of the A.P state in
continuing to share electricity which is worthy of its cause. This would lessen
the situation from further compounding and save a few unnecessary tit-for-tat
exchanges. Though there are many who drafted plans and implemented division,
significant is the absence of none to provide safeguards and drive towards
amicable journey.
There seems to be a war-like outlook in the
public speeches, fighting in courts and such similar propaganda. This shall
never be the whole and sole objective of division and a reason for any action. The common man’s sense of belonging orients towards their region following the path set by their leaders which casts a shadow on the diverse nature of the place. The mental barriers are soon following the physical boundaries. If
unbridled and larger objectives of division were not clearly declared and followed in action, this will tilt the generation’s choice and affects many to come. Obviously, a mammoth exercise is implemented
for things to get better and not otherwise. There are many short term benefits to work for but do they materialize on the
backdrop of prevailing atmosphere is a question to answer.
An industrious
intelligent man marries a beautiful woman and gives rise to an offspring to
improve the quality of human race. This asks for forwarding the concentration
of best qualities from a heterogeneous mixture of people. For this reason, a
cosmopolitan or a metropolitan city is more advanced relative to other parts. A
desire for own rule comes when you fail to attract the best with fear of
securing positions for in-house occupants. This implies you tend to open-up
less and grow little due to the failure to embrace non-natives.
From
all the developments, the main caveats which need to be dealt properly are: 1.
Extending a supporting hand 2. Working on self-interests before committing to
hurt the interests of other side. 3. Maximising the returns of division by
assisting each other to that end. We cannot ignore the required role of the regional neighbour in the progress of common state and in separate state either. Only then, will it add more meaning and substance to the parted ways of self-existence. Rather than in the coerces of mudslinging, an intention and inclination to work towards this will have the faith of ordinary citizens. If not, the people at large will be at a loss and the new choice of
getting re-united ought to be seriously considered. The epochs from
history always teach – A land divided achieved nothing more significant than it
is when united and after re-united.
